Project Details

Consultant:  Kimley-Horn and Associates
Budget: $100,000
Funding:  Multimodal Planning Program
Completion Date: October 2009

This study focused on the ways transit mobility and accessibility can be enhanced for the section of Route 3 from Gordon Road in Spotsylvania County to the Rappahannock River in Fredericksburg, and on the ways high-occupancy vehicles can benefit from transit-oriented infrastructure improvements along the corridor.  It identified measures, strategies, and concepts to improve the viability, convenience, and efficiency of transit services along the study corridor.  The study also discussed general best practices in creating transit-friendly development.  Recommendations related to land use and development were primarily provided to begin discussion in adapting local land use ordinance for the Route 3 area.
