Public Review & Comment for Draft Air Quality Conformity Analysis for the 2021-2024 TIP
What is an air quality conformity analysis (AQCA) and why does it need public comment?
All projects that are determined to add capacity (i.e., adding a travel lane) to the road network must undergo an air quality analysis as part of the transportation planning process. Capacity adding projects cannot exceed the amount of allowable emissions as stated in the Statewide Transportation Improvements Plan (SIP). The AQCA is being updated along with and included as part of, FAMPO’s 2021-2024 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). A 30-day public comment period is required.
What was the conclusion of the FY21-24 TIP draft AQCA report?
Page 5 of the report states, “This report documents that the FAMPO FY 2021-2024 TIP has met all applicable federal (40 CFR Parts 51 and 93), state and local requirements relating to transportation conformity and, accordingly, a finding of conformity for the TIP is supported.”
