Review and Comment LRTP Amendment
What is the LRTP and why does it need to be amended?
FAMPO is responsible for developing and maintaining a long-range transportation planning document for the Fredericksburg area, known as the Long Range Transportation Plan. Within the long-range plan, is a fiscally constrained list of transportation projects. As transportation funding and needs change, it becomes necessary to periodically amend the fiscally constrained project list to ensure projects receive funding.
The proposed amendment will add transportation projects approved for state funding during SMART SCALE Round 3, projects recently added to the short-range FY21-24 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), and other new projects and studies for the region. Also, transportation projects and studies that have been completed need to be removed.
Why should you review and comment?
The public comment period is an opportunity for the public to provide feedback on whether transportation projects fit the region’s transportation needs, how projects may affect the community, and how projects may impact the public’s ability to reach services and opportunities. Before the FAMPO Policy Committee can adopt the 2045 LRTP amendment, there must be a 30-day public comment period. Your comments on the proposed amendment will help Policy Committee members make informed decisions.
